Malaysia Tourism Quality Assurance (MyTQA)

For Associate-Affiliate Members

On behalf of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), we are pleased to inform/remind our member malls of the abovementioned ongoing initiative which has the main objective of improving the quality of service and facilities for Malaysian tourism products. MyTQA provides recognition for tourism products and raises awareness for the tourism industry to focus on quality & excellent service.

The basic outlines of MyTQA are as follows:

  1. An Accreditation Programme/Certification to serve as a mechanism for referring domestic & international tourists to Malaysia’s high quality tourism products.
  2. Instill in tourist entrepreneurs a culture of consistently valuing quality tourism products.
  3. Classifying tourism products that comply with the quality standards tourists require.
  4. Improving the quality of Malaysia’s tourism products & services.
  5. Increase tourists’ confidence in the products that have been certified by MyTQA.

What are the advantages of MyTQA?

  2. Priority to participate in Tourism Malaysia’s international trade mission
  3. Opportunity to engage in MOTAC & Tourism Malaysia programmes
  4. Promoted on MOTAC and Tourism Malaysia’s Websites

For our shopping mall industry, the MyTQA Category relevant is under “Shopping & Lifestyle Tourism” which includes Shopping Complex and Mega Mall. We would, therefore, like to encourage our members to participate in this initiative and be accredited accordingly.

The application procedure is as follows:

  1. Applicants can obtain assessment criteria guidelines & MyQTA application form from MOTAC website www.motac.gov.my Application is on a voluntary basis and no payment is required.
  2. Conduct self-assessment before submission
  3. Assessment is scheduled to take place within 30 days of documentation being submitted and accepted by MOTAC
  4. On-site assessment will be conducted by a MOTAC approved panel for facilitation (not audit)
  5. Results will be notified 14 days following the MyTQA Evaluation Panel Committee Meeting.

The Accreditation Classification will be for Platinum Award/Gold Award/Silver Award and validity of accreditation is for 3 years, whereby notification will be given to renewal or re-application 6 months before expiry,
